Professional conduct and service terms

Last updated 3 September 2026

MOVE is run by Jonathan Talks, a sole trader working across Barry, Cardiff, Penarth, Dinas Powys and the Vale of Glamorgan. This page sets out how sessions are conducted and the terms you agree to when you book. It applies to personal training, sports and remedial massage, nutrition and mindset coaching, and online programming.

Consent

Every session starts with consent. You are told what will happen, why it matters and what you should feel. You can pause, change or stop anything at any point, without explaining why, and without it affecting how you are treated afterwards. Consent is checked again whenever the work moves to a new area of the body or a new technique.

Screening before the first session

Before any hands-on or training work you complete a health screening covering injuries, medical history, medication and anything a clinician has told you to avoid. Answer it accurately; sessions are planned around it. Tell Jonathan about changes — a new injury, a new medication, pregnancy, a recent illness — before the next session. Some conditions mean a session is postponed or referred on, and that is a safety decision, not a judgement.

Sports and remedial massage

Treatment is carried out with proper draping at all times. You undress only as far as is needed for the area being worked on, you change in private, and only the region under treatment is uncovered. Everything else stays covered. Breast, genital and gluteal cleft areas are never treated. Where work near the upper chest, abdomen or gluteal region is clinically appropriate, it is explained first and only carried out with your specific spoken consent, and you can decline any part of it.

You may bring a chaperone to any appointment. Clients under 18 are treated only with written parental consent and with a parent or guardian present. Any request for sexual contact ends the appointment immediately, the full fee is payable, and no further bookings are taken.

Boundaries

The relationship is professional. Jonathan does not discuss one client with another, does not contact you about anything outside your training and treatment, and does not accept clients where a personal relationship would compromise objectivity. What you say in a session stays in the session, unless there is a serious risk to you or someone else, or the law requires disclosure.

Mobile and home visits

Mobile sessions need a clear, private, adequately lit space with room for a treatment couch or floor work. Nobody else needs to be present, but you are welcome to have someone there. Jonathan can decline or end a visit where the environment is unsafe, and the session fee remains payable in that case.

Scope of practice

Jonathan is a qualified Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Therapist and holds Level 4 (YMCA) Advanced Sport Nutrition. MOVE does not diagnose medical conditions, does not treat disease, and does not provide clinical dietary treatment for medical conditions such as diabetes or eating disorders. Advice given here does not replace advice from your GP or another registered clinician, and you should not stop or change prescribed treatment on the strength of it. Where something sits outside scope, you are told plainly and referred on.

Booking, deposits and payment

Enquiries are answered within 24 hours with available times. A deposit is taken to hold your slot and comes off the session fee. The balance is due on the day, by bank transfer or card. Prices are as published on the site at the time of booking; blocks of sessions are paid up front, valid for six months from purchase, and are non-transferable.

Cancellation, lateness and refunds

Cancel or move a session with at least 24 hours' notice and the deposit carries over. Inside 24 hours, or if you do not attend, the deposit is retained. Arriving late shortens the session rather than extending it. If Jonathan cancels, you are offered the next available slot or a full refund of anything paid. Genuine illness, bereavement and emergencies are handled sensibly, not by the letter of this paragraph. Unused sessions in a block are refundable within 14 days of purchase if none has been taken.

Your part in it

Training carries inherent risk. You agree to work within the guidance given, to say when something hurts or feels wrong, and to stop when asked. Sessions are not delivered to anyone under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs.

Records and insurance

Written notes are kept for each client and held securely; see the privacy policy for what is stored and for how long. MOVE carries professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Client measurements and photographs are only published with separate written consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Concerns and complaints

Raise anything with Jonathan directly on 07502 323400 or jonathan@move.cymru. Complaints are acknowledged within two working days and answered within five working days, in writing if you would like that. If the outcome does not resolve it, you can escalate to Jonathan's professional body or insurer, whose details are provided on request. Nothing here affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
